Fiber Technology is here!
MIDTEL has replaced the majority of its copper and coax network with fiber optic cables. The few remaining areas will be converted shortly.
In addition to our existing fiber optic lines in Schoharie, Albany, and Otsego Counties, MIDTEL will be providing service on over 300 miles of new fiber being constructed in Schoharie County as part of the County’s fiber grant project.
Unlike other providers, like cable TV and satellite companies, MIDTEL extends its fiber directly to your home or business to ensure the best end-to-end service for your Internet, Streaming TV, and Phone needs.

Why Fiber
Fiber technology carries communication services using light waves instead of electricity. Services provided over fiber optic lines are the most advanced communication system available in the world today. It is incredibly efficient and resilient, allowing data to flow farther and faster than ever before.
- Shocking Speed — Consistent and lightning fast. Unlimited data.
- Reliability — Withstands the elements. No shared bandwidth like cable companies.
- More of Everything — Connect more. Stream more. Save more.
- The Future — Grows with you. Advanced, innovative design.
- Security — Protected connections. Harder for hackers to access.
- Home Value — Invest in fiber. Increase your home’s value.
