Q.How do I set up my MIDTEL email account? Can I use POP3, IMAP or Secured SSL with my email?
A.For quick access, from any internet connected computer with a web browser, you can use MIDTEL Webmail https://www.midtel.net/webmail.

If you are using a Smart Phone, or a desktop computer with an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, you can set that up as either a POP3 or an IMAP email client. You can enable Secured SSL on either POP3 or IMAP. Secured SSL encrypts the communication between your computer and MIDTEL NET's email server.

Q.I have an Apple Iphone. I can receive my MIDTEL NET e-mails, but I can not send.
A.Click on your MIDTEL NET email account. Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). For the Host Name, use - “mail.midtel.net:587” (without the quotation marks). For the username enter your full e-mail address - username@midtel.net. Scroll down and choose Advanced. In settings, choose Password Authentication.

Q.Can I set up a Spam folder in MIDTEL Webmail to catch my junk e-mails?
A. Yes, follow these instructions to set up your spam folder.

Q.What is the maximum size e-mail attachment I can send using MIDTEL NET's e-mail service?
A. The total size of the message, including the body and any attachments, is 8MB. If you need to send a larger file, there are many free web sites that provide this service. www.yousendit.com is one example. We recommend you search out the one that best suits your needs.

Q.I'm trying to set up an e-mail server, but the outgoing messages seem to be blocked, why?
A. MIDTEL NET blocks outgoing traffic on Port 25, this is mainly to stop viruses that setup their own SMTP on the infected machine. You can gain the ability to send on Port 25 by subscribing to a static ip address. Please contact customer service to set this up.

Q.I use MIDTEL NET for my e-mail, but sometimes I connect to the Internet through another ISP. When I do this I can receive my e-mail, but I can not send, why?
A. You'll need to configure additional settings in your e-mail client to do this. First, set your e-mail client to use SMTP Authentication. Second, set your e-mail client to send mail on Port 587. If you need assistance setting this up, consult the help file of your e-mail client of contact the Internet Helpdesk.
